CONSIDER AND ACT: on a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to pursue Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funding made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

BACKGROUND:
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the State Energy Conservation Office has been allocated $45 million for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program. The purpose of the program is to provide funds to local governments to develop and implement projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions in their communities.
The City has been notified that it will receive approximately $75,000 through the program. Staff is currently evaluating possible projects that meet the grant requirements as well as accomplish some of the objectives listed in the city's comprehensive sustainability plan.

RECOMMENDATION:
City staff recommends approval of the resolution.
