CONSIDER AND ACT: on an amendment to Chapter 8 of the Code of Ordinances adding Article 8.08 to prohibit public urination and defecation

BACKGROUND:
In order to provide officers of the University Park Police Department with the authority to issue a citation or arrest individuals for the offense of "urinating in public," a service call which seems to have increased over the past few years, the included ordinance is being submitted for approval by the City Council.

RECOMMENDATION:
As University Park may be the only city in the state not to have such an ordinance, staff recommends approval.
